A tradition of my family growing up was a yearly walk around Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. My grandfather started the yearly 23 mile walk along the Lake Geneva Shore Path years ago. At first I was just doing this walk to be the youngest Fiedler to accomplish it. I did not appreciate the tradition or any deeper significance until my grandpa passed away in 2012. I learned that life does not revolve around JT. Life is about making a difference not only in your life, but primarily in others. I learned that traditions are important. I learned that life is short and loss is permanent. I learned that life is not always fair. I learned that the time to make an impact is now.

Today, I have the privilege of working in the nonprofit space – helping organizations worldwide continue to advance their mission. I am able to focus my time and effort each and every day to help organizations who strive to better the community they serve and make a difference in the world – reminding me of the lessons I learned from the Walk.
