SUMMARY:Good Intentions vs Bad Actors: Considerations on Security for Non-profits
DESCRIPTION:COURSE DESCRIPTION: \nThe responsibility of cybersecurity is crucial for all organizations\, regardless of their size or nature. It encompasses the protection of data\, technology\, and physical security. \nCommunity service and non-profit organizations are not immune from this. These organizations are also responsible for safeguarding data they collect and house\, such as personally identifiable information (PPI) and protected health information (PHI)\, as they are often targeted due to their sensitive data. Non-compliance with regulations such as HIPAA or increasing state privacy laws can result in significant fines and reputational damage. It’s essential for executives and board members to prioritize cybersecurity\, as reputational damage can also affect the leadership of an organization. Budget constraints can pose challenges\, but seeking grants and partnerships with larger organizations or educational institutions can provide access to security solutions. However\, exercising caution and oversight is crucial when engaging with external entities. Maintaining a strong cybersecurity posture is not only a legal requirement but also vital for protecting sensitive information\, preserving organizational reputation\, and ensuring the trust and safety of the people served. \n  \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES: \nParticipants will analyze why cybersecurity is the responsibility of all organizations\, encompassing the protection of data\, technology\, and physical security. \nEvaluate the impact of non-compliance with regulations such as HIPAA\, identifying potential fines and reputational damage that can affect organizations\, including non-profits. \nApply tips on discussing the prioritization of cybersecurity at the executive and board level\, identifying opportunities to seek grants and partnerships for funding\, and exercising caution when engaging with external entities. \n\n\nTo Watch this Webinar on the Media Library CLICK HERE! \n\n\n \n
