Don’t Let Your Fly-in Fly Away: Capturing the Power of Member Advocacy on Video

January 15, 2026 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST

Course Description:

Every year, associations invest enormous time and energy into Fly-Ins and Lobby Days—bringing members to Washington, DC, for two days of advocacy and training. Yet once the meetings end, the passion, stories, and authentic voices that make these events powerful often vanish. This session will show how to transform that fleeting energy into an ongoing campaign that amplifies your message all year long. Using real-world examples from the Home Care Association of America, Start Early, and the Alzheimer’s Association, we’ll demonstrate how short, authentic videos captured during Fly-Ins can humanize complex policy issues, energize members, and strengthen relationships with lawmakers.

Learning Objectives:

Identify key moments before, during, and after a Fly-In where video capture can enhance advocacy outcomes.

Build a year-round video ambassador program by engaging members during Fly-Ins and inviting them to create videos throughout the year.

Repurpose Fly-In videos across multiple channels—from Hill follow-ups to year-round advocacy and membership campaigns.
