The Mindset Shift: Migrating from Legacy “AMS Thinking” to AI-Ready “CRM Thinking”

August 5 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Course Description:

For years, associations have operated under “AMS thinking”—relying on rigid, all-in-one Association Management Systems to manage member data in structured silos. As member expectations evolve and artificial intelligence redefines operational capabilities, transitioning to Salesforce offers a powerful alternative. However, success requires more than just new software. It demands a fundamental shift to “CRM thinking.” This session is designed to guide association leaders through this paradigm shift and prepare them for a successful migration in an AI-dominated landscape.

We will focus on understanding the critical architectural differences between legacy databases and a relationship-focused platform.

We will specifically analyze how “CRM thinking” unlocks native, predictive AI capabilities (such as member churn prediction and personalized engagement paths) that are impossible to achieve within the rigid, siloed data structures of “AMS thinking.” Additionally, we will demystify the Salesforce ecosystem, helping you evaluate implementation partners and determine the right configuration of Salesforce tools (such as the Nonprofit Cloud) to meet your association’s specific operational needs.

Learning Objectives:

Contrast the operational and architectural differences between legacy “AMS thinking” and a relationship-centric, AI-ready “CRM thinking” approach.

Evaluate implementation partners and determine the right configuration of Salesforce tools (such as the Nonprofit Cloud and Einstein AI) to meet your association’s specific operational needs.

Formulate a structured vetting process to select a qualified Salesforce implementation partner who understands association workflows.

Design a high-level roadmap for aligning legacy business processes with Salesforce’s flexible automation and predictive intelligence capabilities.
